Details about the Volunteer Discount
The volunteer tuition discount is now 27% ($87.60 per class). As always, only one person in a family has to volunteer for one hour in order for all family members to qualify for this discount for all classes. In addition, families will receive a scholarship (i.e., a credit) of $45 deducted from their invoice. If someone signs up for set-up or clean-up, they will receive a $60 credit instead of $45.
NOTE: Unlike the tuition discount, which will be awarded by merely offering to volunteer (whether we can use you or not), the scholarships are only awarded for actually completing jobs assigned.
In addition, volunteer scholarships have been increased for those who volunteer 2 or more hours. (This could be one person working all hours or multiple people working.) In these situations, families will receive $60 per volunteer assignment (unless it’s for clean-up or set-up, which will result in a $65 discount).
Perhaps a chart with some examples from some fictional families will help:

We will consider three families who are all taking 4 classes but volunteering a different number of hours. (The Reys are just there for general edification.)
-
The Peck family is taking 4 classes and volunteering for 1 hour. Their tuition rate therefore will deduct 27% (the volunteer tuition discount) from $480 (the new tuition rate for 4 classes), which would be $350. However, if they are actually assigned a job, they will also receive a $45 scholarship, which makes their total tuition $305.
NOTE: Unlike the tuition discount, which will be awarded by merely offering to volunteer (whether we can use you or not), the scholarships are only awarded for actually completing jobs assigned.

-
The Dahl family is taking 4 classes and volunteering for 2 hours. Their tuition rate is therefore 27% (the volunteer tuition discount) of $480 (the new tuition rate for 4 classes), which would be $350. However, if they are actually assigned 2 jobs, they will also receive a $120 scholarship ($60 for each assignment), which makes their total tuition $230.
-
The Baum family is taking 4 classes and volunteering for 3 hours. Their tuition rate therefore will deduct 27% (the volunteer tuition discount) from $480 (the new tuition rate for 4 classes), which would be $350. However, they have been assigned 2 jobs ($60 each) plus a job setting up ($65). So, they will receive a $185 scholarship, which makes their total tuition $165.
