November 29, 2024The Spring Semester classes are available for your perusal at https://omahahomeschool.com/
Volunteers get the first pick (on 12/6 at 7am) and a discount! See information about volunteering at https://omahahomeschool.com/volunteer/
General registration begins Dec.18th at 7am.
The semester will begin Feb. 5th. Classes are on Wednesdays at 124th and Center. See details at https://omahahomeschool.com/registration/
1. When registering for classes, a deposit of 34% of the tuition will be paid; the remaining tuition will be charged in two equal installments on the 4th and 8th week of the semester.
2. We are no longer able to refund the full tuition for cancellations, even when due to unforeseen circumstances. (See reasons at bottom.) Adjustments made to registered classes will incur a charge, which is non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be credited.
• Cancellations made between four weeks before the start of the semester through Week 3 will incur a loss of 50% of the total tuition and supply fees for each dropped class.
• Cancellations made before this time will incur a loss of the deposit paid at registration.
• Cancellations made after week 3 of the semester will incur a loss of 100% of the total tuition and supply fees for each dropped class.
3. A $20 fee will be charged for failed installment payments, such as expired credit cards, insufficient funds, etc.
4. Students who are consistently unable to meet classroom behavior expectations may need to be removed from class. These occurrences will incur a full loss of tuition and supply fees for the class.
The Learning Center is delighted to serve homeschool students. However, classes are necessarily group-based environments, which prevent us from making the kinds of accommodations that are available at home. Parents should make realistic enrollment decisions based on a child’s experience in group settings, such as library activities, Sunday school, etc.
Please carefully read the online class description as well as take note of the following common issues that prevent students from meeting classroom behavior expectations:
[Preschool]
• Children do not tolerate separation from a parent.
• Children are consistently unable to quietly pay attention for ten minutes.
• Children consistently resist redirection.
• Children are unwilling or unable to follow directions.
[6-13-yr-olds]
• Children are consistently unable to quietly pay attention for fifteen minutes.
• Children consistently interrupt the teacher or talk to a classmate.
• Children are unwilling or unable to follow directions.
• Children are unwilling or unable to work cooperatively in small groups.
[14-18 yr olds]
• Students consistently interrupt the teacher or talk to a classmate.
• Students are unwilling or unable to work cooperatively in groups.
• Students are unwilling to attend class (consistent tardiness, frequent bathroom breaks, leaving early, etc.).
REASONS FOR THESE CHANGES
Sadly, it is not fiscally responsible to offer full refunds as routinely as we have in the past. Such a policy comes at considerable cost: at one point this semester, 88% of our classes were full; currently only 62% are. This figure impacts
• the loss of opportunities for other homeschool families to take part in our classes.
• an increase in time spent on communication, painstaking judgments, and bookkeeping.
• a loss of revenue.
We appreciate your understanding and willingness to work with us to continue to make the Omaha Homeschool Learning Center a success!
